It's FINALLY here!!!

And it's definitely worth staying up for!

Fans are looking forward with anticipation to the teaser trailer of The Desolation of Smaug. Some of them wish they will not show Smaug at all. They prefer to keep the mystery around the dragon. ^^; Umm, I can say they didn't get exactly what they wish for. Well, watch the trailer to find out yourself. Hehe. =P

Some caps after the jump.

I will say lotsa action for this second installment of The Hobbit series.

We have our dear Bilbo up on a tree surrounded by blue butterflies.

Close encounter with the giant spider...

Then, emerging wet from the river...

Hanging by the tree branches...

Annndddd sliding down the gold mountain of Smaug...

Not forgetting, tip-toeing around someone's lair... =P

Ahem, and the returning characters for this second installment are of course:

Thorin, giving Thranduil his 'death stare'. =P

The Lonely Mountain Dwarf gang. =X

The barrel scene~

Azog the 'terrible'.

Radagast

We'll also get to see Gandalf in action.

The 'new' characters for The Desolation of Smaug will be:

Lee Pace's Thranduil. If you ask me, the impress he gives me from the trailer is he is a cold and uncaring elf...

Is it me or does Legolas' eyes look kinda freakishly blue here. Well, he is totally unlike the Legolas in the Lord of The Rings series. I can only say he is seemingly 'less friendly' here. But of course, this is before he met Gimli who change him into a friendlier elf. =3

Evangeline Lily's Tauriel.

Luke's Bard the Bowman. I think that's Dwalin's head on the right corner ----> =X

Other than all of the above, it will be the stunning matte painting they did for the Desolation of Smaug:

Last but not least...

SPOILER AHEAD! *WARNING: PLEASE TURN BACK IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE A 'CERTAIN' SEXY DRAGON*

When Bilbo meets Smaug...

I have to say I think Smaug is totally modelled after Benedict Cumberbatch. ^^; It definitely sound 'dragon-like' but it's still kinda weird knowing the fact that Benedict's the voice behind it.

P/S: Made a real quick gif. Somehow, I just love the expression of Martin in this particular scene. Can't wait for the movie! Now I can go sleep peacefully. Nights all!
